Luis Garcia says he is not interested in leaving Espanyol after being linked with a move to Newcastle United.
Reports claim that the Magpies are considering a bid to bring the striker to the Premier League in the January transfer window.
“I believe that selling players in the winter market will be a big mistake after keeping the squad in the summer,” Garcia told the Spanish press.
“I am very happy with the club because we are working to become a big club and, to achieve this objective, it is obligatory to stay with the same setup.”
Garcia’s Espanyol team-mates Daniel Jarque and Albert Riera have also been linked with a move in January, with Tottenham rumoured to be interested in the duo.
However, Garcia added: “In the press there are many rumours that appear, but we have not spoken with anybody.”
