Genoa have fired coach Gian Piero Gasperini following an disappointing start to the season.
Three defeats in their last four outings have left the club with just 11 points from their opening ten games.
Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Palermo proved to be the final straw, with that setback leaving Genoa 14th in the table.
Gasperini leaves Stadio Luigi Ferraris after four years in charge, during which time he returned the club to the top flight and secured Uefa Cup qualification in 2008/09.
Genoa president Enrico Preziosi is believed to have already approached former Lazio coach Davide Ballardini regarding the vacancy.
