Thomas Gravesen has admitted he is in awe of his new club, but he is confident he will soon settle in at Real Madrid.

The Danish international also admitted that he will have to curb his naturally gregarious instincts until he establishes himself at the Bernabeu.

“I have joined a club where I am not the person who controls all the chat in the dressing room,” he told Ekstra Bladet.

“It would be stupid of me to come in making a lot of noise and taking over.

“I will have to take it step by step, but until I know the language well I cannot do that.”

Real regard Gravesen as the solution to their defensive midfield problems, which have hindered the club since the departure to Chelsea of Claude Makelele.

“It is perfect, because I am at a club that has signed the world’s best players,” added the Dane. “Everything here at Real Madrid is infinitely bigger than anything I have seen before, this is a dream.

“Although the expectations are enormous, I have no doubt that I am going to succeed. When I joined Hamburg and Everton they were both struggling, but Hamburg ended up playing in the Champions League and Everton are fourth now.

“But I joined Real Madrid to win things, when I found they were interested I did not believe it, it was too big.

“But when everything was finally done, the relief was enormous.

“Like after my debut I was so tired because of the tension and the nerves.”
