Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri remains adamant that the club’s prolific striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is staying at Stamford Bridge.

“There have been lots of rumours but that’s all it is,’ Ranieri said in an interview with Radio Barcelona. ‘Hasselbaink is staying at Chelsea,”

Further confirmation that the deal was unlikely to go through came in a statement from Barcelona president Joan Gaspart.

‘I can’t deny that Louis van Gaal and I have talked about signing Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink but I now view the prospect of signing him as remote,’ admitted Gaspart.

‘We have wanted his type of player for some months now but itis not an obsession and we have always said that we would make such a signing only when the market price was correct for us.’
