Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks has pronounced himself pleased after holding talks with manager Rafa Benitez.

The American attended Liverpool’s Champions League match with Chelsea on Tuesday, having spoken with Benitez on the morning of the match. Further talks were held the day after the match, with Benitez requesting clarification on a number of issues.

“We had a great meeting,” Hicks told The Times before Wednesday’s second round of talks.

“We have agreed to meet again and it is a very healthy situation.

“Rafa is happy and wants to talk about where he is taking the club.”

It has been reported that Benitez told Hicks he was reluctant to discuss any signiicant issues unless co-owner George Gillett and chief executive Rick Parry were present.

Hicks said: “I am surprised if anyone is saying different. We plan to all get together and Rafa is happy with that.”
