Fernando Hierro has spoken of his shock at being transfer-listed by Bolton.

Manager Sam Allardyce made seven players available for transfer on Tuesday as he looks to generate funds to bring in a new striker.

Along with Hierro, Henrik Pedersen, Julio Cesar, Florent Laville, Anthony Barness, Blessing Kaku and Kevin Poole were all placed on the transfer list, but Hierro has demanded a meeting with Bolton chairman Phil Gartside to find out why he is being offloaded.

“I don’t have the slightest idea why,” he told Marca.

“It surprises me because recently I have been in the plans of the coach.

“I don’t know what it’s down to, but in any case I will be speaking to the chairman to see what is going on.

“I know that the manager wants to sign a forward, but the truth is that I was not expecting this.”
