Hermann Hreidarsson has turned down the chance of a move from Ipswich to newly-promoted West Bromwich Albion.
The clubs had agreed a £4 million deal for the Icelandic defender but Hreiadarsson has decided to stay at Portman Road.
“I spoke to Hermann this morning,” WBA managing director Brendon Batson told the club’s website. “He told me that he won’t be coming.”
Batson admitted that although the player was happy with the deal offered, he was unwilling to move to a club who are expected to endure a season-long relegation struggle.
“Hermann came to see the manager, George Burley, and myself earlier after considering the move to West Brom,” revealed Town chairman David Sheepshanks on the club’s official website. “He said he would prefer not to make the move.”
