Bayern Munich have admitted they are in talks with Serie A side, Udinese regarding the possible transfer of striker Carsten Jancker.
Jancker has struggled to maintain a place in the Bundesliga side this season and the German side are looking to reduce their playing staff beforethe season begins.
“Carsten is free to leave us, but if he does not find another club, he’ll stay,” Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld said.
Bayern are believed to value Jancker at 8 million Euros, but may be willing to accept a lower offer for the player who joined from Rapid Vienna in 1996.
A move to Turkish side Galatasaray was due to take place before the World Cup this summer but disagreement over the fee ended this.
Milan were also keen at one point to sign the forward whose contract expires in June 2003.
The 27-year-old wasa member of the German national side that went all the way to the final. Jancker scored in the 8-0 win over Saudi Arabia in the first round but was later replaced in the starting eleven by Oliver Neuville.
