Juventus have confirmed they are hoping to sign Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira.
General director Luciano Moggi travelled to London in a bid to complete a deal for the 29-year-old, but admitted: “Arsenal don’t want to sell him.”
But according to reports in Italy, Arsenal are prepared to do a deal but are looking for £14m, whereas Juventus are offering £5m plus midfielder Stephen Appiah.
But, if a player/exchange is required, then Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is demanding Jonathan Zebina is included in the package.
Moggi said: “I haven’t said that he is too expensive. In any case we will have to meet them again.”
Moggi has identified Vieira, 29, astheir chief summer target.
He said recently: “Obviously, they will not let him go cheaply as he is a magnificent, winning midfielder but if Arsenal are willing to do business, we’d buy him tomorrow.”
