Juventus have given beleaguered coach Ciro Ferrara another vote of confidence.

Ferrara’s future has been the subject of increasing speculation following a poor run of form.

Sunday’s defeat to Chievo was Juve’s fourth league defeat in five games leaving them 13 points behind leaders Inter.

Inevitably, the defeat raised further question marks over the future of Ferrara, but after a boardroom meeting the club have offered their backing to Ferrara.

“We go forward with Ferrara, as we always said,” Juve’s deputy director general Roberto Bettega told Corriere dello Sport.

“He came out smiling from this meeting and this is already an answer. Have we told Ferrara that the problem was him? No, evidently we did not have to tell him that.”

Bettega also played down talk linking Juventus with moves for any new players in this month’s transfer window, noting the fact Mohamed Sissoko will return to the club early after Mali early elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations.

“We won’t be signing any players because we are just waiting for the ones who are injured to return,” added Bettega

“Momo Sissoko is our first capture. Mali have been knocked out and he will be back for the Roma game.”
