With Lilian Thuram the latest player to succumb to the flu virus sweeping through the Juventus camp, the Italian sideare considering an approaching UEFA to request a postponement of their Champions League clash with Manchester United.

Juventus flew into Manchester with only a 15-man squad, after suffering several wiithdrawals and with Thuram an additional casualty, the Juventus will convene a lunchtime meeting with the club doctors to determine whether they can field a side tonight.

The official UEFA policy in the Champions League regulations is that: “The UEFA chief executive will decide on any matters not provided for in these regulations, as well as in cases of force majeure. Such decisions are final.”

The decision woould therefore rest with Gerhard Aigner.

Juventus boss Marcello Lippi appears prepared to soldier on despite the withdrawal.

“There’s no point crying over spilt milk,’ he said.
