Brazil midfielder Kaka claims that he will be ready for the start of the World Cup, despite struggling with fitness throughout the season for Real Madrid.

Kaka, who cost Madrid £59 million in the summer, was plagued with injuries last season and was criticised for the length of time he spent in the treatment room, but he insists he will be fit for the World Cup.

“I’m going to Sao Paulo to have tests done. There we will see what condition I am in and see that I will not have any problem at the World Cup. I’ll be at 100% for the World Cup,” Kaka told AS.

“I had a difficult season but there have been many cases of players who have had a bad year and then shine on the World Cup. I’m not worried at all.”

Kaka’s team-mate Luis Fabiano also returned to Brazil and played down the injury which is keeping him out of Sevilla’s Copa del Rey final appearance on Wednesday.

“It’s a minor injury, but I didn’t want to risk aggravating it,” Fabiano said. “I won’t be fully fit by Friday, but in two weeks I should be fine.”
