Denmark legend Michael Laudrup has confirmed that he turned down the chance to take over at Atletico Madrid.
The former Spartak Moscow, Getafe and Brondby manager was offered a short-term deal with the Spanish club following the sacking of Abel Resino.
However, Laudrup has turned the opportunity down.
“I am happy that my name is mentioned in connection with a big club like Atletico Madrid,” he told Politiken.
“But I will not be the new coach for the club.”
Atletico have only managed a six points from seven league games in the Primera Division so far this season, while in Europe they are without a win after their opening three Champions League fixtures.
