Ajax players Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Cristian Chivu have been suspended for hitting opponents during the club’s Dutch Cup semi-final defeat by Feyenoord, while Feyenoord striker Pierre Van Hooijdonk, who was sent off in the same game, has also been suspended.

Ibrahimovic picked up a six-match ban from the Dutch Football Association (KNVB) for elbowing Gerard de Nooijer, while Chivu was handed a four-match ban – included a one match provisional ban – for trying to hit an opponent.

Feyenoord’s Pierre van Hooijdonk was also suspended for three games – one of them provisional – after he was sent off for kicking Ajax’s Jelle van Damme during the match on 16 April.

All three players have the right of appeal and Feyenoord have said they will contest the Van Hooijdonk decision.

Ibrahimovic has already served one game of his ban, against AZ Alkmaar last weekend, and will not play again this season.
