It has been confirmed that Liverpool failed with a last minute bid to sign Valencia defender David Navarro on loan.
Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez was looking for a central defender and right-sided midfielder before Wednesday’s transfer deadline, but failed to strengthen his squad before the window closed.
The 25-year-old defender, who has just one year left on his contract, was deemed too important a player to lose at this stage of the season.
Speaking of Liverpool’s bid, Valencia director of football Javier Subirats stated: “The English club also wanted an option to buy him but our decision was clear – David is needed at Valencia.”
