Seattle Sounders midfielder Fredrik Ljungberg has turned down the advances of Serie A minnow Livorno as his agent claims he is wanted by major Italian clubs.
Sky Sport Italia claims Ljungberg has made it clear he wants to play for a bigger side.
The player’s agent Claes Elefalk claims a number of Italian clubs have shown an interest, but he was unwilling to identify the clubs.
“I heard about Livorno’s interest in Ljungberg, but there are also many Italian clubs who have made surveys for the player,” the agent told Calciomercato.it.
“[David] Beckham’s excellent return with Milan has led to clubs thinking the same will happen with Ljungberg. But we must remember he still has one year left on his deal with the Seattle Sounders.
“I cannot name the clubs, but you can imagine the type of team that would be interested in a player like Ljungberg, He has played a whole season without injuries and he was in great form, becoming the most popular player in the MLS.”
