Lyon are the latest club to express an interest in signing Manchester City striker Nicolas Anelka.
The French champions need a replacement for Brazilian striker Giovane Elber, who faces three months out through injury. With fellow French club Monaco unable to afford Anelka after City valued the striker at £10m, Lyon emerged as possible suitors.
Lyon’s interest came Elber broke his leg during their 1-1 draw with Metz on Sunday.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas said: “We are looking at the same players as Monaco.
“Our sporting director Bernard Lacombe saw a striker in Brazil that he really liked.”
Italian giants Juventus have also been linked with a move with Anelka provided they qualify for the Champions League group stages.
