Manchester United are reported to be close to signing Valladolid’s Spanish international goalkeeper Ricardo Lopez.

“An agreement between Manchester United and the player has been reached,” Ricardo’s agent Pedro Bravo told Spanish radio station Onda Cero.

“I had a meeting with (United manager) Alex Ferguson at which we reached the agreement, but we now have to wait to see if the two clubs can also agree terms. But that is the only thing that has to be resolved.”

Valladolid president Carlos Suarez confirmed that they were preparedto sell the 30-year-old keeper.

“If the offer is good we can do a deal, but as yet we have not been approached by Manchester (United),” said Suarez.

Ricardo won a call up into the Spanish nationalside and was in the squad that travellled to the World Cup finals in South Korea/Japan.
