Middlesbrough manager Steve McClaren will stay on an England coach for the 2006 World Cup qualifying campaign after deputising for Brian Kidd at Euro 2004.
“I’m delighted to confirm Steve’s role with the England team,” said head coach Sven-Goran Eriksson.
Kidd, who steppped down from his role prior to Euro 2004 after suffering from cancer, will become a scout.
McClaren added: “Working with the England team is a tremendous honour, so I am delighted to be continuing.”
McClaren first worked under Eriksson in the 2002 World Cup qualifying and finals campaign before resigning to concentrate on his Boro career.
Eriksson continued: “We really enjoy working together and I’m sure we can continue developing the team during qualification for the World Cup finals in Germany in 2006.
“We are both determined to achieve success with England.
“I know Steve believes he can combine his role with Middlesbrough.”
