Alex McLeish, whose position as Rangers manager seems increasingly tenuous, has issued a defiant message insisting he will not resign.
Speaking after Rangers went down 2-0 to arch-rivals Celtic in the Scottish League Cup quarter-finals, McLeish was adamant he was not going to resign.
“I’m going to have a break for a few days and after that, as far as I’m concerned, I’ll be back to prepare the team for the game back here on November 19,” he said.
“We can’t afford not to get results, it’s as simple as that, but it’s not for me to decide whether something else is going to happen.
“I’ll be the first to know if something is going to happen and I’m sure everyone else will hear shortly after that.
“But I’ll certainly intending to be planning for our next game.”
Celtic manager Strachan refused to be drawn on the position of his Rangers counterpart.
“With regards to Alex’s situation I’m not going to say anything. I’ve spoken with him myself but that’s all I’ll say.”
