Spanish World Cup midfielder, Gaizka Mendieta has been linked to a possible move to the Premiership with Chelsea.
The Lazio midfielder could be on his way to London on a one-year loan as the Serie A side desperately try to slash their wage bill.
Mendieta, widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in the world beforehis move to Lazio, hardly played for the Italian giants last season and only just scraped into the Spanish side for the World Cup.
Mendieta may jump at the chance of regular first-team action, possibly at Stamford Bridge, where he could link up another former Lazio player, Dino Baggio, who is expected to complete a one-year loan move to Chelsea in the next 48 hours.
