Philippe Mexes has been hit with a six-game ban following his controversial transfer to Roma from Auxerre.

Mexes left the French club – claiming he had a clause in his contract allowing the move.

Auxerre appealed to Fifa, demanding compensation, and asking for a ban for Mexes.

Fifa has now decided that he should serve a six-match ban, which will keep the French international out of action until early April.
