Jose Mourinho is relishing the chance of revenge when he takes his Chelsea team to Anfield for the UEFA Champions League meeting with Liverpool.

A Luis Garcia goal gave Liverpool a 1-0 win and a place in last season’s final, but Mourinho believes Chelsea’s Premier League win on New Years Day will inspire his team.

“In April we lost but in January we won,” the Portuguese manager said.

“So we know that we can win there, although we also know we can lose there.

“They are enjoyable matches. These big matches you enjoy more.”

Frank Lampard, who scored both goals in Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Saturday, is expecting a tough encounter against the Champions League holders.

“We are ready for Liverpool but they will be two very tough games, we know that,” said Lampard.

“Going to Anfield is always difficult and going there twice in a week even more so.

“We look ready for it and we want to get the right results.

“It was a deafening noise last season and it will be the same this week so we will have to be ready.”
