Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu will be joining Turin giants Juventus within the next week, according to various reports.
However, newly-promoted Fiorentina are still in the hunt for the player, having expressed an interest 2 weeks ago.
Juventus want to purchase the Romanian for around £7m, whereas Fiorentina could only afford a loan deal with an option to buy at a later date.
Andrea Pretti, a representative of Mutu, admitted” “There are two clubs who have expressed an interest in the player. What we need to understand now is the approach Chelsea are taking to Mutu’s situation.”
New signings Didier Drogba and Mateja Kezman, along with the outstanding form of Eidur Gudjonnson, have pushed Mutu into the background.
However, Pretti admitted that Mutu may still have a role to play at Chelsea.
“If we look at all the top clubs going into the Champions League, they tend to have four world class strikers on their books,” he added. “This is why I’m not sure Chelsea would want to give away Mutu.”
Juve need a replacement for Marco Di Vaio, now teamed up with former Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri, in Valencia, whilst Fiorentina are desperate to secure some back up to recent loan signing Javier Portillo.
