New Italy coach Marcello Lippi has not included Alessandro Del Piero in his 21-man squad for Wednesday friendly against Iceland in Rejkavik.
Lippi, who coached Del Piero for a number of years at Juventus, has dispensed with the striker as he seeks to build a side for the 2006 World Cup.
Lippi has included four players squad for the first time: Francesco Flachi (Sampdoria), Luca Toni (Palermo), Simone Barone (Palermo) and Manuele Blasi (Juventus).
Roma pair Francesco Totti and Antonio Cassano, Inter forward Cristian Vieri and (Inter Milan), and Lazio’s Bernardo Corradi all miss the match through injury .
