Rosenborg coach Age Hareide has been appointed to lead the Norwegian national team.
Hareide, 50, will take charge from January 1 succeeding Nils Johan Semb, who stood down last month following Noorway”s EURO 2004 play-off defeat to Spain.
l “We’ve agreed to take on Age Hareide as national coach for four years,” Karen Espelund, head of the Norwegian Football Association, told reporters.
Hareide joined Rosenborg a year ago and led them to a 12th consecutive league title in 2003. Rosenborg beat Red Star Belgrade last week to reach the third round of the UEFA Cup.
Hareide’s assistant at Rosenborg, Ola By Riise, is expected to become the club’s new coach.
