Panathinaikos v PSV Eindhoven
Panathinaikos need to beat already-qualified PSV and hope that Arsenal fail to overcome Rosenborg,, if the Greek team are to reack the knock out stages.
“It will be very difficult for Arsenal to drop points at home. Nevertheless we must win tomorrow and hope. That’s not to say it won’t be difficult. It’s no coincidence that PSV lead the group”
“It’s a matter of prestige. We definitely we want to win but I’m sure we would be looking at a different match if our chances didn’t depend on others.”
Unfortunately for coach Zdenek Scasny, key midfielder Angelos Basinas is a doubt with a groin strain.
“The main problem is Basinas,” commented coach Zdenek Scasny.
“I know a team must have a big squad in order to replace those who are suffering from fatigue but, regarding Basinas, it’s difficult because he is not easily replaced.”
PSV coach Guus Hiddink says he will only play those who are 100 percent fit, meaning Kasper Bogelund, John de Jong, Theo Lucius and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink missing out.
Hiddink acknowledged that Panathinaikos have only a slim chance of progressing, noting: “Panathinaikos have lost the right to control the outcome of their campaign and I don’t think Arsenal will let the chance slip.”
