Javier Portillo has joined newly-promoted Serie A club Fiorentina.
The young Real Madrid striker, regarded as the natural heir to Raul, was largely frozen out at the Bernabeu last year, warming the bench for the majority of the games.
New Madrid coach Jose Antonio Camacho has agreed to allow Portillo to go to Florence, a move welcomed by La Viola, who have had to rely on numerous loan signings due to lack of funding.
Portillo, 22, will spend the coming year on loan, but Fiorentina will not be given the option on a permanent deal, indicating that Portillo is seen as having a long-trerm future with Madrid.
Portillo will join Hidetoshi Nakata, already on loan for the next season, and possibly Massimo Maccarone, if an agreement can be reached with his club Middlesbrough.
