Argentina international midfielder Andres D’Alessandro has joined English Premiership side Portsmouth on loan from Wolfsburg.
The 24-year-old D’Alessandro was accused him of lacking motivation during club training and was dropped from the starting line-up last weekend.
D’Alessandro joined Wolfsburg in July 2003 for €9.5m, moving from River Plate.
Portsmouth have signed D’Alessandro on loan until the end of the current season, after which they have the option to make the move permanent.
D’Alessandro is Portsmouth’s ninth signing of the transfer window and the third in the last 24 hours.
Manager Harry Redknapp told the club’s website: “The boy is a really influential playmaker and you can’t have too many of those.
“This is a massive signing for the club and I am delighted.
“We have got together some players who can have a huge influence on matches.
“And this lad is one of them.”
