Paris Saint-Germain have approached Rennes coach Vahid Halilhodzic about the possibility of succeeding Luis Fernandez at the under-achieving Parisian club.

Halilhodzic has been offered a four-year contract with PSG, but the Bosnian has delayed making a decision, until he has secured Rennes’ first division future.

“My only concern for now is Rennes’s future. I have a mission to accomplish and that is for Rennes to stay in Ligue 1,” Halilhodzic said on Tuesday.

“I have respect for the players and the club and a match to prepare against Strasbourg. I’ll give my answer as soon as I’m sure Rennes remain in top flight,” he said.

The newly-appointed PSG president Francis Graille is a close ally of Halilhodzic from their days together at Lille.
