Rangers midfielder Alex Rae could face a ban after UEFA confirmed they would investigate an incident during the club’s 2-1 defeat by CSKA Moscow in the first leg of their Champions League qualifier.
Rae sparked a brawl when he appeared to kick Serghei Dadu’s in the head during Tuesday night’s match.
Rae claimed contact was accidental.
“The ball was actually there and he put his head down between my foot and the ball,” the former Wolves midfielder said.
“It looked worse than it was, without a doubt. No action was taken by the referee.”
UEFA will await the referee’s report before deciding if any action should be taken,
A Uefa spokesperson said: “The disciplinary department know all about it and are onto it already.
“At the moment, we don’t have the referee’s report, but we will be looking at the incident anyway.”
