Manchester City are understood to have agreed a fee of £4 million with Barcelona for Dutch international defender Michael Reiziger.

According to a report in today’s Guardian newspaper, City have been in negotiations with Barcelona for some time and Reiziger is expected in Manchester in the next week to discuss personal terms.

The 29-year-old has been out of favour at the Nou Camp since Louis Van Gaal returned to the club in the summer.

An experienced defender capable of playing at full-back of centre-back, Reiziger has enjoyed previous spells at Ajax, where he won the European Cup under Van Gaal, and Milan, where he was unable to eestablish a regular place in the starting line-up.
