Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard has challenged Ronaldinho to demonstrate his value to the club.

On Wednesday, it was claimed that a transfer deal between Chelsea and Ronaldinho had been agreed, although the reports were subsequently denied by Ronaldinho’s brother and agent, Roberto de Assis.

Amid the speculation, Rijkaard has challenged Ronaldinho to regain his place in the Barcelona starting XI.

“Players like Ronaldinho, it’s not the coach who sits them on the replacement’s bench, it’s them who decide,” he told Ona FM Radio.

The Dutchman also said it is up to Ronaldinho to show what a “great player he is”.
