Real Madrid are closing in on a deal for Chelsea’s Arjen Robben, according to reports in Spain.

Real president Ramon Calderon pledged to sign Robben when he first ran for election at the Bernabeu and AS claims Real struck an agreement with Robben’s father and agent over the weekend and are only waiting for Chelsea’s agreement.

“Green light for Robben,” trumpeted AS sports daily, quoting Calderon as saying that “we need a director of the orchestra.”

AS says Jose Mourinho is ready to part with Robben and is looking to replace him with Lyon midfielder Florent Malouda.
