West Ham United manager Glenn Roeder has been moved out of intensive care and is expected to make a full recovery following his recent collapse.
Roeder was rushed to hospital after West Ham’s 1-0 win over Middlesbrough on 21 April – after suffering a blocked blood vessel in his brain. He will still require neuro-surgery but can now look forward to returning to work within the next couple of months.
A club statement read: “Tests have revealed a small lesion in the brain that will require neuro-surgery in the near future.
“A full recovery and a return to work is expected within the next six to eight weeks.
“Glenn’s wife Faith would like to thank all those who have sent messages of best wishes and support, especially those from many hundreds of Hammers fans.
“Faith has also requested that the family’s privacy continues to be respected at this time.”
Former player Trevor Brooking has taken charge of first-team affairs for the remainder of the season.
