Cristiano Ronaldo will sign a new contract with Manchester United later today according to United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ferguson told Portuguese reporters that the deal has been agreed and an official announcement is expected soon.

A new five-year package was offered to the winger and although there had been speculation that Ronaldo was unhappy with the terms of the new offer, Ferguson claims he will sign.

“He will sign the new deal tomorrow,” Ferguson told A Bola.

“He is a fantastic player. Cristiano Ronaldo is the future of Manchester United, with Wayne Rooney, Darren Fletcher and John O’Shea.

“I do not know if he will stay as many years as Ryan Giggs but I know that he will give us a lot of joy.”
