Marcello Lippi has denied that his Juventus striker Marcelo Salas is set for a move to Manchester United, despite the striker being persistently linked with a move to Old Trafford.
Salas has dropped down the pecking order at become a peripheral figure Stadio Delle Alpi, with the likes of summer signing Marco Di Vaio, Alessandro del Piero and last season’s leading scorer David Trezeguet all ahead of the Chilean.
However, Lippi denies Salas is for sale, despite the presence of scouts from Old Trafford at Juve’s weekend match with Chievo.
“Salas will not be leaving,” declared Lippi.
“We have a squad of 26 players and we are happy with it.
“I do not think that any players will be leaving or arriving in January.”
