Javier Saviola, Barcelona and Argentina forward, has admitted today for the first time that he may be leaving the club.
Saviola has kept a low profile amid all the recent speculation linking him with a move away from Barcelona.
“I still feels a Barca player,” Saviola, told Argentine newspaper ‘La Nacion’.
“Monaco is a possibility, but I for the moment I remain at Barcelona.”
Saviola is currently preparing for the Olympic Games with his country, and considers himself to be in “good physical form”.
He admitted to being disappointed that he suffered injury in the Copa America, especially after starting the competition in spectacular fashion, netting a hat-trick against Ecuador.
The striker continued: “The most important thing is that now I’m at a hundred per cent, because there were games in which I couldn’t give my all. Against Mexico the injury aggravated itself [Argentina lost], and didn’t feel good.”
Saviola is currently looking to become a naturalised Spaniard, having been working in the country for the required length of time, in order to reduce Barca’s number of non-EU players.
