Rangers striker Filip Sebo has joined Valenciennes on a season-long loan.

The 23-year-old Slovakian striker has played for the Scottish Premier League club this season.

Sebo was signed from Austria Vienna for £1.8m by previous Rangers manager Paul Le Guen but has scored just twice in 32 appearances for the Ibrox club.

Rangers manager Walter Smith explained his recent strengthening of the squad menat that certain players would leave in search of regular first-team football.

“Having a slightly bigger group than last year means we have to watch that we don’t get frustration from the boys that are not playing,” he told Rangers’ website.

“So if some clubs come along for one or two of the boys then we will consider what they have to say.”
