Sevilla have decided to hand caretaker coach Antonio Alvarez a one-year contract extension.
The La Liga club parted company with Manolo Jimenez in March after a disappointing run of form, with Alvarez placed in temporary charge until the end of the season.
After guiding the club to the Copa del Rey crown and securing a top-four finish, the club’s board agreed to offer the former Sevilla centre-back the job on a permanent basis.
Club president Jose Maria del Nido will unveil Alvarez as the new manager at a press conference on Thursday.
