Bologna striker Guiseppe Signori has announced that he will retire at the end of the current season.
The 36-year-old former Italian international will call it a day after an 18-year career in the Italian game. During that time he has played for Piacenza, Trento, Foggia, Lazio and Sampdoria – as well as Bologna.
Signori admitted that age had caught up with him and the mental and physical rigours of Serie A football had become too much to bear.
“The mental and physical stress of a season at the highest level are too much to continue”, he stated.
“I’ll quit football, but I’ll stay living in Bologna.”
