Scotland boss Walter Smith has been tipped to return to Rangers for a second spell as manager following the departure of Paul le Guen.
Former Ibrox striker Ally McCoist, a member of Smith’s coaching staff with Scotland, is also expected to be part of the new set-up.
Le Guen had only been in charge at Ibrox for 7 months, and left after stripping Barry Ferguson of the captaincy.
Smith helped Rangers win nine successive titles before resigning in 1998 and moving to Everton.
Smith has presided over Scotland’s impressive start to their Euro 2008 qualifying campaign and he may continue to undertake duties for the national team while working full-time for Rangers.
