Tottenham have taken Lens Ivory Coast striker Dagui Bakari on trial after being denied in their efforts to take fellow Lens striker, Olivier Thomert to White Hart Lane.
After an initial bid of between £2-3m for the 24-year-old was turned down, Lens slapped a massive £9.3m price tag on Thomert, the a player who they admit they “are relying on a lot for the coming season.”
The news was a setback for Tottenham, who are looking to booster their attack following the sale of Portuguese international Helder Postiga, and release ofSergei Rebrov. Matters were not helped by the injury picked up by Robbie Keane in midweek, which could mean the Republic of Ireland striker misses the start of the season.
Bakari was linked with Wolves last year, and a move to Spain in January, however no deal materialised.
