Sunderland’s long search for a new striker will end today when manager Peter Reid completes the signing of Rangers’ Tore Andre Flo and Ipswich Town’s Marcus Stewart.

Flo and Stewart, both 29, are expected to sign today and should be available for selection for tomorrow’s Premier League clash with Sunderland.

Flo will join in a œ7 million deal, less than 18 months after joining Rangers for a record œ12m. Stewart meanwhile, who scored just six goals for Ipswich last season, is expected to set Sunderland back £1 million.

The Sunderland boss is also believed to be close to clinching a œ1.5m deal with Celtic for out-of-favour Republic of Ireland midfielder Healy.

Reid has been under pressure all summer to strengthen his forward line. Last season Sunderland scored just 29 league goals, the lowest total in the Premier League.
