Sunderland chairman Bob Murray has slammed Manchester United for the manner in which they have tried to lure David Bellion away from the Stadiium of Light.
Murray has now reported United to the Premier League, claiming the Old Trafford club have ‘broken every rule in the book’.
Bellion has gone missing from Sunderland, apparently unsettled by United’s approach, which according to Murray, has beeen despicable.
“United’s treatment of this club is shabby, despicable, disrespectful, arrogant and unprofessional,” claimed Murray.
“They have broken every rule in thebook.
“He wants to go to Manchester United and I understand that,’ added Murray. ‘But they refuse to meet our askingprice and have totally unsettled our player both mentally and physically – David has told me he doesn’t feel mentally right to play for Sunderland.
“The relationship between our two clubs is at an all-time low. “Why don’t they just close their academy and do this to every decent young player in the country.”
United have refused to meet Sunderland’s asking price of £3 million for Bellion, offering just a œ500,000 downpayment, with a similar amount based payable on appearances. Sunderland are furious at what they consider to be a derisory offer, but are aware that they run the risk of losing the 20-year-old for nothing in the summer, under the Bosman ruling.
