Sweden overturned a 2-0 deficit to defeat France in a thrilling Euro 2015 Under-21 play-off second leg, but it was the goal celebrations by players on both sides that will linger in the memory.
Trailing 2-0 from the first leg, Sweden got the tie back to 2-2 on aggregate by half-time and looked to have won it with a goal from Oscar Lewicki on 71 minutes.
Their joy was short-lived as France scored what appeared to be a critical away goal through Layvin Kurzawa.
However, much to the annoyance of the Swedish team, Kurzawa went up to Swedish striker John Guidetti and saluted his opponent in a sayonara farewell-type gesture. It’s unclear what, if any, bad blood had preceded the gesture, but it was certainly an unsavoury moment that went down badly with the Swedes.
But, with just 2 minutes left on the clock, Sweden scored a dramatic late winner through Lewicki again.
Cue, the entire Swedish team approaching Kurzawa to mimic his earlier goal celebration.
