Switzerland have suffered a double blow with the news that strikers Marco Streller and Leonard Thurre will miss the EURO 2004 finals.
Stuttgart forward Streller, broke a leg in training on Sunday – and Thurre, originally brought in as Streller’s replacement, has hurt his left calf.
The injuries leave coach Jakob Kuhn with only three fit strikers ahead of Wednesday’s deadline for squad lists.
“This morning everything seemed clear – 12 hours later, everything is more complicated,” coach Jakob Kuhn said.
Possible replacements include youngsters Johan Vonlanthen and Davide Chiumiento.
