Thun have sacked the coach who steered the tiny Swiss club to a shock place in this season’s Champions League.
The club announced on Monday that Urs Schoenenberger would be “released immediately due to irreconcilable differences.”
Schoenenberger was brought in to replace Hanspeter Latour in January 2004 and succeeded in taking the team to an unprecedented second place finish in the Swiss league.
The club then went on to earn an unlikely place in this season’s Champions League after knocking out Dynamo Kiev and Malmo on the way.
After finishing third in their four-team group they earned themselves a UEFA Cup spot.
However, domestically, their performances suffered, and the team has won just three of its last 12 matches.
