Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres insists he has no plans to leave, despite the club again failing to qualify for European competition.

The Spanish international has been linked with a move away Atletic, but he claims he will see out the remaining three years on his contract.

“The press are always talking about me going and recently the speculation has been stronger, probably because we are near a World Cup,” Torres said.

“But my plan is to stay here for the next three years. I haven’t signed anything with any other clubs.

“I have always said I want to be in the side that returns Atletico to where it deserves to be.”

Torres has, however, admitted that he is becoming increasingly frustrated with Atletico’s underachieving in La Liga.

“Every year it seems to be the same old story, where we make great signings, build a team to go places but we fail and it really hurts,” he added.
