Roma star Francesco Totti has surprisingly hinted that he could join Milan this summer, if Roma don’t keep their promise to sign new players in the summer.
Totti claims that the Romans will sign “five or six” new players over the summer, including Parma starlet Alberto Gilardino. However the club are known to be struggling financially and may be forced to sell their star players such as Totti and Brazilian midfielder Emerson.
Totti, with the Italian team for EURO 2004, told a press conference: “The fans can stay calm, the club have informed me of five or six signings that I am happy with.”
“If these players arrive then I will remain.”
“Gilardino? I hope he does arrive.”
Totti has previously claimed that he would never join Milan, saying the only club he would quit Roma for, would be Real Madrid. However, today, he refused to rule out the possibility of a move within Italy.
Quizzed about a switch to Milan, Totti responded: “I’m ready to repeat what I said but this is football and anything can happen in this game. You can never say never.”
Roma have already sold Argentine defender Walter Samuel to Real Madrid for £20million this summer.
